How to Cancel LinkedIn Premium on Web, iPhone and Android
How to cancel LinkedIn Premium on desktop, in the app, through the App Store or Google Play, plus what you lose, free trial rules and when to cancel.
Key takeaways
- On desktop, click Me, choose Premium features, then Manage subscription, Purchases, your active subscription, Cancel subscription and Confirm cancel.
- If you bought Premium through the Apple App Store, start in the LinkedIn app on your Apple device; Apple completes the cancellation and handles any refund.
- Cancel at least one day before your billing date; paid Premium stays active until the end of your current billing cycle.
- Cancelling a free trial ends Premium immediately, and you can't start another free trial for at least 12 months.
- Unused InMail credits are lost, and a discounted or discontinued plan can't be bought again once you cancel it.
To cancel LinkedIn Premium on the website, click the Me icon at the top of your homepage and choose Premium features. Click Manage subscription, which opens LinkedIn's Admin Center, then Purchases. Select your active subscription, click Cancel subscription under Actions, then Confirm cancel.
In the LinkedIn app, tap your profile photo → Premium features → Manage your subscription → Cancel subscription. If you bought Premium through the Apple App Store, you start in the LinkedIn app and finish in Apple's subscription settings.
Cancel at least one day before your billing date to avoid the next charge. Paid Premium stays active until the end of the current billing cycle, but a free trial ends the moment you cancel it.
Find out how you pay for LinkedIn Premium#
LinkedIn's cancellation steps depend on where you bought Premium. It's worth a minute to check before you start.
| Where you bought Premium | Who bills you | Where to cancel |
|---|---|---|
| LinkedIn website (desktop or mobile browser) | LinkedIn website, or the LinkedIn app | |
| iPhone or iPad app, paid with Apple | Apple | Start in the LinkedIn app on an Apple device, finish in Apple's settings |
| Android app, paid with Google Play | Google Play | LinkedIn website, LinkedIn app, or Google Play |
| Through your employer | Your organization | Your company's LinkedIn admin |
Two quick ways to tell:
- Your bank or card statement. A charge with LinkedIn's name means LinkedIn bills you. A charge labelled with Apple (often APPLE.COM/BILL) means the App Store does. A charge mentioning Google means Google Play.
- Your email receipts. Search your inbox for "LinkedIn Premium". The sender tells you which route you used.
If you can't place the charge at all, search the merchant name on your statement and check every email address you might have used for LinkedIn.
How to cancel LinkedIn Premium on desktop#
This is the main route for anyone billed by LinkedIn directly. These are the steps from LinkedIn's help center:
- Click the Me icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage.
- Select Premium features from the dropdown.
- Click Manage subscription under Plan details. This takes you to LinkedIn Admin Center.
- Click Purchases.
- Select your Active subscription.
- Under Actions, click Cancel subscription.
- Click Confirm cancel.
LinkedIn may show you offers or ask why you're leaving along the way. Read each screen and keep going until you've confirmed.
When it's done, your subscription should show an end date rather than a renewal date. Take a screenshot and keep any confirmation email.
Menus change from time to time, and LinkedIn's own help articles use slightly different labels in places (one Google Play article calls the link Subscription details under Resources). If your screens look different, check LinkedIn's help article "Cancel LinkedIn Premium subscription" for the current steps.
Cancelling without signing in#
LinkedIn's help center says that if you're in Germany or the United States, some subscriptions can be cancelled without signing in. The help article links to that option. It's useful if you've lost access to the account that's paying.
How to cancel LinkedIn Premium in the mobile app#
For Premium billed by LinkedIn, the mobile steps in LinkedIn's help center are:
- Tap your profile photo.
- Tap Premium features.
- Tap Manage your subscription. This opens the Manage Premium account page.
- Tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts.
There's one exception. LinkedIn says that if you bought Premium on iOS through the mobile web (in Safari, not in the app), LinkedIn processes the payment and the cancellation must be done on desktop, not in the iOS app. If that's you, use the desktop steps above, in a computer browser.
If you bought LinkedIn Premium through the Apple App Store#
LinkedIn's help center says that if you bought Premium through the Apple App Store, you use your Apple device to cancel in the LinkedIn mobile app. You start the cancellation in LinkedIn and are then sent to Apple's subscription settings to finish it.
You can also go straight to Apple's list:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap [your name].
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Tap LinkedIn.
- Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.
Or manage it in a browser at https://apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Anything billed through Apple has to be cancelled through Apple, even though LinkedIn has its own website. Our guide on how to cancel subscriptions on iPhone explains Apple's subscription list in detail.
LinkedIn says it can't provide billing support for iTunes (App Store) purchases, so payment questions and refunds go to Apple. For a refund, use https://reportaproblem.apple.com: sign in, choose "I'd like to", then Request a refund. Apple decides, and refunds aren't guaranteed. See how to get a refund for an App Store subscription.
LinkedIn also has a help article on immediate cancellation of App Store purchases. It says that for subscriptions bought on or after June 1, 2020, you can contact Apple Support directly if you need it ended right away, and that's at Apple's discretion.
If you bought LinkedIn Premium through Google Play#
LinkedIn's help center says a Premium subscription bought on Android through Google Play can be cancelled on the LinkedIn website, in the LinkedIn app, or in Google Play on the web or on your phone. The LinkedIn steps are the same as above.
To cancel in Google Play:
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap your profile picture.
- Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Choose LinkedIn.
- Tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts.
On the web, go to https://play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions. LinkedIn notes that it can't show your purchase history for Google Play subscriptions, so check your Google Play order history for receipts. Uninstalling the LinkedIn app doesn't cancel anything. Our guide to cancelling subscriptions on Android and Google Play covers the details.
What happens after you cancel LinkedIn Premium#
LinkedIn's help center says that after you cancel, your plan expires at the end of your current billing cycle, and your account returns to a free Basic account. Your profile, connections and messages stay; you lose the Premium features.
When the cycle ends, LinkedIn lists features you lose, including:
- InMail credits you've built up. They can't be credited back, so use them first.
- Profile insights such as who viewed your profile.
- LinkedIn Learning access, if your plan included it.
- The Premium badge on your profile.
- Advanced search filters and competitive insights.
- Premium insights on LinkedIn Pages, for plans that include them.
Two more points from LinkedIn's FAQ that are easy to miss:
- Discounted and discontinued plans don't come back. If you're on a promotional price or a plan LinkedIn no longer sells, you won't be able to buy it again after cancelling.
- Immediate cancellation needs support. LinkedIn schedules cancellation for your next billing date. If you need it ended immediately, LinkedIn says to contact its customer support.
Cancelling a free trial#
Free trials work differently. LinkedIn says that if you end a free trial early, you lose access to Premium features immediately. And if you cancel a free Premium trial, you won't be eligible for another free trial for at least 12 months.
So if you've started a trial you don't want to pay for, decide when to cancel. Cancel too early and you lose the rest of the trial; cancel too late and the first charge goes through. A reminder a couple of days before the trial ends is the safest middle ground. Our guide to avoiding charges after a free trial has more on this.
Refunds for LinkedIn Premium#
Cancelling stops the next renewal; it doesn't automatically refund the current period. Where you go for a refund depends on who billed you:
- App Store: Apple, through reportaproblem.apple.com. LinkedIn can't help with these.
- Google Play: Google Play's refund and help options.
- LinkedIn directly: LinkedIn has a refund policy page in its help center, including for missed trial cancellations. Check it for the current rules.
If you're charged after a cancellation you can prove and support can't help, contact your bank or card issuer.
A worked example: monthly vs yearly Premium#
Premium is often a short-term tool: you subscribe while job hunting or prospecting, then stop. How you pay changes how much a forgotten renewal costs.
Say Premium costs, for example, $40 a month, or $300 if you pay for a year up front.
- Monthly, used for 3 months, then cancelled: 3 × $40 = $120.
- Monthly, forgotten for 12 months: 12 × $40 = $480.
- Yearly: $300, whether you use it for 3 months or 12.
| Scenario | Cost |
|---|---|
| Monthly, cancelled after 3 months | $120 |
| Yearly plan | $300 |
| Monthly, forgotten for a year | $480 |
If you only need Premium for a few months, monthly and cancelling on time is cheapest. If you'll use it all year, yearly can save money. Forgetting to cancel a monthly plan is the most expensive option. Our guide to monthly vs yearly subscriptions works through the break-even point.
Troubleshooting: when you can't cancel LinkedIn Premium#
| What you see | What it usually means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| No cancel option on the website | Billed through Apple | Start in the LinkedIn app on an Apple device, or use iPhone Settings |
| LinkedIn isn't in iPhone Subscriptions | Apple doesn't bill you | Cancel on the LinkedIn website |
| Bought on iOS in Safari and the app won't cancel | LinkedIn bills you via mobile web | Cancel on desktop |
| Charged after cancelling | Cancelled less than a day before billing, or renewal processed first | Check dates; contact LinkedIn or Apple about a refund |
| Premium through work | Your employer pays | Ask your company's admin |
Keep track of when Premium renews#
LinkedIn Premium is easy to start for a reason, like a job search, and easy to forget once the reason is gone.
When you subscribe, note your billing date and set a calendar reminder two days before it. LinkedIn asks you to cancel at least a day before billing, so that leaves a margin.
If you'd rather have it on your phone, Monthlee is an iPhone app that tracks subscriptions and free trials in one list and reminds you on the day or 1, 2, 3 or 7 days before each charge. You add LinkedIn Premium in one tap, and it warns you before a free trial turns into a paid plan, without ever asking for a bank login.
The bottom line#
To cancel LinkedIn Premium on desktop, click Me → Premium features → Manage subscription → Purchases, select your active subscription and click Cancel subscription, then Confirm cancel. In the app, tap your profile photo → Premium features → Manage your subscription → Cancel subscription. App Store purchases finish in Apple's settings; Google Play purchases can also be cancelled in the Play Store.
Cancel at least a day before your billing date, use your InMail credits first, and remember that cancelling a free trial ends Premium immediately and blocks another trial for at least 12 months.
Frequently asked questions
How do I cancel my LinkedIn Premium subscription?
On the LinkedIn website, click the Me icon, select Premium features, then Manage subscription. In the Admin Center, open Purchases, select your active subscription, click Cancel subscription and then Confirm cancel. If you bought Premium through Apple or Google Play, the steps differ slightly, and Apple purchases are completed in Apple's subscription settings.
Can I cancel LinkedIn Premium on my phone?
Yes, in most cases. In the LinkedIn app, tap your profile photo, tap Premium features, then Manage your subscription, and tap Cancel subscription. If LinkedIn bills you directly after a purchase on iOS mobile web, LinkedIn says to cancel on desktop instead.
If I cancel LinkedIn Premium, do I lose it immediately?
No, not for a paid plan. LinkedIn says your plan expires at the end of your current billing cycle, and then your account returns to a free Basic account. A free trial is different: cancelling it ends Premium access straight away.
Will I get a refund if I cancel LinkedIn Premium?
Cancelling stops future charges but doesn't automatically refund the current period. For Premium bought through the App Store, LinkedIn can't provide billing support, so refunds go through Apple. For other purchases, check LinkedIn's refund policy page in its help center.
Can I get another LinkedIn Premium free trial after cancelling?
Not straight away. LinkedIn says that if you cancel a free Premium trial, you won't be eligible to sign up for another free trial for at least 12 months.
Know every charge before it lands.
Monthlee keeps your subscriptions, bills and free trials in one calm list and reminds you before each charge. No bank login. Free for up to 5 subscriptions.
