How to Cancel Disney Plus on Web, iPhone and Android

Key takeaways

  • If Disney bills you directly, cancel in the Subscription section of your Disney+ Account page, on the website or in the mobile app.
  • Disney says cancelling takes effect at the end of your billing period, so you keep watching until the date you've paid for.
  • If Apple, Google Play, Verizon, Amazon, Roku or another partner bills you, you have to cancel with that company instead.
  • Bundles are separate plans: cancelling a standalone Disney+ subscription doesn't necessarily end a Disney+, Hulu, ESPN bundle, so check which plan you're on.

To cancel Disney Plus, sign in to your Disney+ account in a web browser or the mobile app, open your Account page, go to the Subscription section, pick your plan and choose Cancel Subscription. Confirm, and Disney won't charge you again. Disney's help center says cancellation takes effect at the end of your billing period, so you keep watching until then.

That works if Disney bills you directly. If you signed up through Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Roku, Verizon or another partner, the cancel button lives with that company instead. Bundles add one more wrinkle, which is covered below.

Menus change from time to time, so if your screens look different, Disney's help center at help.disneyplus.com has the current steps.

The fastest way to cancel Disney Plus#

This route is for anyone who pays Disney directly with a card, PayPal or a gift card balance. It's what most people need.

  1. Go to disneyplus.com in a web browser (or open the Disney+ app on your phone) and sign in.
  2. Select your profile and open Account.
  3. Find the Subscription section and select your plan.
  4. Choose Cancel Subscription.
  5. Disney may show an offer or ask why you're leaving. You can skip it and confirm the cancellation.

Disney's subscriber agreement also points to a direct address for this: disneyplus.com/account/cancel-subscription. Sign in there and you land on the cancel step.

When it works, your Account page shows the date your access ends, and you should get a confirmation email. Keep that email until the end date has passed. It's your proof if a charge appears later.

Cancel before your renewal date, not on it#

Disney's subscriber agreement says you need to cancel before 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on the day before your subscription term ends to avoid the next charge. In plain terms: don't leave it until the morning of your billing date. Your next billing date is shown in the Subscription section of your Account page.

Since you keep watching until the paid period ends, there's no downside to cancelling as soon as you decide.

Check which account you're signed in to#

If your household has more than one Disney account, or you've used two email addresses over the years, make sure you're cancelling the one that's being charged. The email on the Account page tells you. A quick search of your inbox for Disney+ receipts shows which address gets billed.

How to cancel Disney Plus on iPhone, Android and TV#

The steps depend less on your device and more on who bills you. Here's where to go in each case.

How you pay Where to cancel Notes
Directly to Disney Disney+ Account page → Subscription (web or mobile app) The usual route
Through Apple iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions The Disney+ account page can't stop it
Through Google Play Play Store → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions Uninstalling the app doesn't cancel
Through Amazon or Roku Your Amazon or Roku account Manage it with that company
Through Verizon or another partner The partner's website or app Disney can't cancel it for you

On an iPhone or iPad#

If you pay Disney directly, open the Disney+ app or Safari, go to your Account page and follow the steps above.

If you subscribed through the App Store, Disney+ is billed to your Apple Account. Go to Settings → your name → Subscriptions, pick Disney+ and tap Cancel Subscription. You can also do it at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Anything billed through Apple has to be cancelled through Apple, even though Disney has its own website.

Not sure which applies? If Disney+ appears in that Subscriptions list, Apple bills you. If it doesn't, Disney or another partner does. Our guide on how to cancel subscriptions on iPhone walks through that list in more detail.

On an Android phone or tablet#

If you pay Disney directly, use the Account page in the app or in your browser.

If you subscribed inside the Android app with Google Play billing, Disney's help center says to cancel through Google Play:

  1. Open the Play Store app.
  2. Tap your profile picture.
  3. Tap Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
  4. Pick Disney+ and tap Cancel subscription.

You can also do it on the web at play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions. Deleting the Disney+ app doesn't cancel anything. For more on the Play Store side, see how to cancel subscriptions on Android and Google Play.

On a smart TV, streaming stick or game console#

Use your phone or a computer instead. TV apps aren't built for billing changes, and signing in on the website takes less time than typing passwords with a remote. The exception is if your TV platform bills you, for example a subscription you started through Roku or an Amazon device. Then you cancel in that platform's account settings, covered next.

If Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Roku or a partner bills you#

Disney's help center has a separate page for subscriptions through a third party, and the rule is simple: manage the subscription through the company that bills you. Disney can't cancel it from its side.

Apple: Settings → your name → Subscriptions on an iPhone or iPad.

Google Play: Play Store → profile picture → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions, or the Google Play website.

Amazon: sign in to your Amazon account and look for your memberships and subscriptions, where app and channel subscriptions are listed.

Roku: sign in to your Roku account on the web and look for your subscriptions, or manage it from the Disney+ channel on your Roku device.

Verizon: Disney's help center says you can manage your plan, view billing details or cancel in the My Verizon app or on Verizon's website. If Disney+ is part of your phone plan, removing it may change what you pay for the plan, so check before and after.

Other carriers, internet or TV providers: sign in to the provider's website or app and look for add-ons, perks, entertainment or included services. If you can't find it, contact the provider's support team.

How to tell who bills you#

Two quick checks:

  • Your Disney+ Account page. The payment details in the Subscription section show whether Disney or a partner handles billing.
  • Your bank or card statement. A charge with Disney's name usually means you pay Disney. A charge from Apple (often APPLE.COM/BILL) or Google means an app store. No separate charge at all, but a bigger phone or broadband bill, often means a bundle or perk.

If you see a Disney-looking charge you can't place, our guide on finding every subscription you're paying for shows where else to look.

Cancelling a Disney+, Hulu or ESPN bundle#

Bundles are where most of the confusion comes from. A bundle is its own plan, separate from a standalone Disney+ subscription, and it may be billed by Disney+ or by Hulu depending on where you signed up.

A few things Disney's help pages make clear:

  • A bundle and a standalone plan can both be active. Disney's help center notes that if you cancel your original subscription after adding a bundle, the bundle continues, and you keep access to the services in it. If you upgraded to a bundle and never cancelled the old plan, make sure you aren't paying twice.
  • Cancel the bundle where it's billed. If Disney+ bills the bundle, cancel it from the Subscription section of your Disney+ Account page. If Hulu bills it, use your Hulu account page. Our guide on how to cancel Hulu covers that side.
  • Switching plans is an option. If you only want to drop one service, look at the plan options on your Account page before cancelling everything. Whether you can remove a single service from a bundle depends on the plans offered at the time, so check the plan list or ask Disney support.

Disney has also been bringing Hulu inside the Disney+ app. That changes where you watch, but it doesn't change the basic rule: cancel the plan you're actually billed for, with the company that bills it.

What happens after you cancel Disney Plus#

Cancelling stops the next renewal. It doesn't cut you off on the spot.

  • You keep watching until your billing period ends. Disney's help center says cancellation is effective at the end of the billing period. The end date is on your Account page.
  • You won't be charged again unless you restart.
  • Downloads stop working once your subscription ends, because they need an active plan.
  • Your account isn't deleted. Cancelling and deleting are separate. Disney's help center has a separate page about deleting your account, which removes things like profiles and watchlists. If you just want to stop paying, cancel and leave the account alone.
  • Free trials and promotions can work differently. If you're on a promotional price or a trial, read the confirmation screen to see exactly when access ends.

Cancelling doesn't refund the current period. If you think you were charged by mistake, contact Disney+ support, or Apple, Google or the partner if they bill you. Refund decisions are theirs, so don't count on one. If you paid through the App Store, requests go to Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, and Apple decides.

A worked example#

Say your plan costs $10 a month (a round number for the example, not Disney's current price). Over a year that's $10 × 12 = $120.

Now say you mostly watch Disney+ for a couple of big releases and a holiday rewatch. If you subscribe for three months a year instead of twelve, you pay $10 × 3 = $30. That's $120 − $30 = $90 a year back in your pocket, and you still see what you wanted.

That's the idea behind a streaming rotation: keep one or two services at a time, watch what you came for, cancel, and move on.

How to restart Disney Plus#

Coming back is quick.

  1. Go to disneyplus.com and sign in with the same email you used before.
  2. Choose a plan and confirm your payment details.
  3. Your profiles should still be there, as long as you didn't delete the account.

Tips for restarting:

  • Use the same email. A new email creates a new account with empty profiles.
  • Check the plan and price before confirming. Plans and prices change, and the plan you had before may not be offered any more.
  • Decide who bills you. Restarting on the website means Disney bills you directly, which keeps everything on one account page. Restarting inside an app store or through a partner moves billing to them.
  • Watch trial dates. If you restart on a trial or promotional price, note the date it changes. A calendar reminder a few days before works well.

Troubleshooting: when you can't cancel Disney Plus#

What you see What it usually means What to do
No cancel option on the Account page A partner, Apple or Google Play bills you Cancel with that company
Disney+ isn't in iPhone Subscriptions You don't pay through Apple Use the Disney+ Account page
Charged after cancelling The renewal processed first, or another plan is active Check the date, account email and plan list
Two Disney-related charges A standalone plan plus a bundle, or two accounts Find both and cancel the one you don't need
Can't sign in Wrong email, or an old account Use Disney's sign-in help to recover it

More things worth checking:

  • Old accounts. An account under a different email can keep billing quietly. Search your inbox for Disney+ receipts and note which address they go to.
  • Family members. Someone else in your household may be paying for a plan you thought was yours, or the other way round.
  • Carrier perks that ended. If Disney+ came free with a phone plan and the perk changed, billing may have moved to your own card. Check your Account page.

If a charge keeps appearing and nobody can explain it, contact your bank or card issuer.

Keep track of when Disney Plus renews#

The cancel button isn't the hard part. Remembering to press it before the next charge is, especially if you signed up for one series and planned to leave afterwards.

The manual fix: when you sign up or restart, add a calendar reminder two or three days before your billing date. When it goes off, decide if you're still watching.

If you juggle several streaming services, Monthlee keeps them in one list with reminders on the day or 1, 2, 3 or 7 days before each charge. You add Disney+ with one tap, with no bank login, and its cancel guides link straight to cancellation pages for popular services.

The bottom line#

To cancel Disney Plus, open your Disney+ Account page on the web or in the app, go to Subscription and choose Cancel Subscription. If there's no cancel option, check whether Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Roku, Verizon or another partner bills you, and cancel with them.

Cancel before the day your plan renews, keep the confirmation email, and if you're on a bundle, make sure you cancel the plan you're actually paying for. You keep watching until the paid period ends, so there's no reason to wait.

Frequently asked questions

How do I cancel my Disney Plus subscription?

Sign in to your Disney+ account on the website or in the mobile app, open your Account page, go to the Subscription section, select your plan and choose Cancel Subscription, then confirm. If a partner such as Apple, Google Play or Verizon bills you, cancel through that company instead.

Do I lose Disney Plus right away if I cancel?

Usually not. Disney's help center says cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, so you can keep watching until then. Your Account page shows the date your access ends.

Why can't I cancel Disney Plus on my account page?

If there's no cancel option, Disney+ is most likely billed by a third party, such as Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Roku, a phone carrier or an internet provider. Check the payment details on your Account page to see who bills you, then cancel with that company.

How do I cancel Disney Plus on my iPhone?

If you pay Disney directly, cancel from the Subscription section of your Disney+ Account page in the app or in Safari. If Disney+ is billed through your Apple Account, go to Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, choose Disney+ and tap Cancel Subscription.

Does cancelling Disney Plus cancel Hulu too?

It depends on your plan. A standalone Disney+ subscription and a Disney+, Hulu bundle are separate plans, so check which one you're billed for on your Account page before you cancel, and cancel the bundle itself if you want both services gone.

Know every charge before it lands.

Monthlee keeps your subscriptions, bills and free trials in one calm list and reminds you before each charge. No bank login. Free for up to 5 subscriptions.
