How to Cancel Hulu (Web, iPhone, Android and Bundles)
How to cancel Hulu on your account page, through Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Roku or a bundle, when to cancel to avoid the next charge, and what happens next.
Key takeaways
- If Hulu bills you directly, cancel on your account page at hulu.com/account, in a web browser.
- Hulu's terms say to cancel before 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on the day before your billing date to avoid the next charge.
- If Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Roku or another partner bills you, cancel with that company, because Hulu can't stop it.
- If you're on a Disney+ and Hulu bundle, cancel the bundle where it's billed, which may be your Disney+ account rather than Hulu.
To cancel Hulu, sign in to your account at hulu.com/account in a web browser, choose the option to cancel your subscription and follow the prompts to confirm. Hulu's own terms describe exactly this route. You keep watching until the end of the period you've paid for, and Hulu won't charge you again.
That's for people Hulu bills directly. If you signed up through Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Roku, a phone carrier or a Disney+ bundle, you cancel with that company instead. One timing rule matters too: cancel before 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on the day before your billing date.
Menus change from time to time, and Disney has been moving Hulu into the Disney+ app, so if your screens look different, check help.hulu.com for the current steps.
The fastest way to cancel Hulu#
This route works for anyone who pays Hulu directly with a card, PayPal or a gift card balance.
- Open a web browser (on your computer or phone) and go to hulu.com/account.
- Sign in with the email you use for Hulu.
- Find the option to cancel your subscription. It's usually near your plan details.
- Hulu may offer a discount, a cheaper plan or a pause first. Decline if you just want to leave.
- Confirm the cancellation.
When it works, Hulu shows when your access ends and usually sends a confirmation email. Keep it until that date passes.
If you don't see a cancel option, you're probably billed by someone else. Skip to the partner section below.
Know the cut-off time#
Hulu's subscriber agreement says you must cancel before 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on the day before your next billing date to avoid being charged for the next period. If you're on the West Coast, that's 8:59 p.m. Pacific.
Your next billing date is shown on your account page. If it's tomorrow, cancel tonight.
Check two things first#
- Which account you're signed in to. If you've used more than one email over the years, make sure you're cancelling the one being charged. Search your inbox for Hulu receipts to see which address gets billed.
- Whether you only want to drop an add-on. If so, change your plan or add-ons on the account page instead of cancelling everything. Hulu's help center has a page on changing plans and add-ons.
How to cancel Hulu on iPhone, Android and TV#
The device matters less than who bills you. This table shows where to go.
| How you pay | Where to cancel | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Directly to Hulu | hulu.com/account in a browser | Works on a phone browser too |
| Through Apple | iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions | Hulu's account page can't stop it |
| Through Google Play | Play Store → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions | Uninstalling the app doesn't cancel |
| Through Amazon or Roku | Your Amazon or Roku account | Hulu can't cancel it for you |
| Disney+ bundle billed by Disney | Your Disney+ Account page | See the bundle section below |
| Phone carrier or other partner | The partner's website, app or support | Check what the bundle includes first |
On an iPhone or iPad#
If you pay Hulu directly, open Safari, go to hulu.com/account and follow the steps above.
If you subscribed through the App Store, Hulu is billed to your Apple Account. Go to Settings → your name → Subscriptions, choose Hulu and tap Cancel Subscription. You can also use apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Anything billed through Apple has to be cancelled through Apple.
If Hulu isn't in that Subscriptions list, Apple doesn't bill you, so use the Hulu website. Our guide on how to cancel subscriptions on iPhone explains the Apple side in more detail.
On an Android phone or tablet#
If you pay Hulu directly, use hulu.com/account in Chrome or another browser.
If you subscribed inside the Android app with Google Play billing:
- Open the Play Store app.
- Tap your profile picture.
- Tap Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
- Choose Hulu and tap Cancel subscription.
The web version is at play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions. Uninstalling the Hulu app doesn't cancel anything. See how to cancel subscriptions on Android and Google Play for more.
On a TV, streaming stick or console#
Use a phone or computer browser instead. TV apps aren't set up for billing changes. The exception is when your TV platform bills you, such as Roku or an Amazon device, in which case you cancel through that platform's account.
If Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Roku or a partner bills you#
Hulu's help center is clear that the steps are different if a third party bills you, and Hulu's terms say to follow that third party's cancellation instructions. Hulu can't end a subscription it doesn't bill.
Apple: Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
Google Play: Play Store → profile picture → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
Amazon: sign in to your Amazon account and find your memberships and subscriptions, where app and channel subscriptions are listed.
Roku: sign in to your Roku account on the web and look for your subscriptions, or manage it from the Hulu channel on your Roku device.
Phone carriers and other partners: Hulu has been offered as part of various phone, music and other bundles over the years. Sign in to the partner's website or app and look for add-ons, perks or included services. If Hulu is built into the plan price, removing it may mean changing plans, so check the cost before and after.
How to tell who bills you#
- Your Hulu account page usually says if a partner handles billing.
- Your statement: a charge with Hulu's name means Hulu bills you directly. A charge from Apple (often APPLE.COM/BILL) or Google means an app store. A charge from Disney+ may mean a bundle. No separate charge at all may mean a phone or other bundle.

Cancelling Hulu when it's part of a Disney+ bundle#
Hulu is often bundled with Disney+ and ESPN, and sometimes with other services. A bundle is its own plan, so cancelling the right one matters.
- Find where the bundle is billed. Some bundles are billed by Hulu and managed at hulu.com/account. Others are billed by Disney+ and managed in the Subscription section of your Disney+ Account page. Disney's subscriber agreement gives separate cancel routes for each: hulu.com/account for Hulu and disneyplus.com/account/cancel-subscription for Disney+.
- Cancelling the bundle ends the services in it. Hulu says you can cancel a bundle at any time online or by contacting support, and you keep access to all the services until the end of your billing cycle.
- Want to keep one service? Look at the plan options on the account page before cancelling. You may be able to switch to a single-service plan instead of cancelling, depending on what's offered at the time.
- Check for double billing. If you moved to a bundle but your old standalone Hulu plan is still active, you could be paying twice.
For the Disney side, see our guide on how to cancel Disney Plus.
Hulu inside the Disney+ app#
Disney has been folding Hulu into the Disney+ app. Depending on when you read this, you may watch Hulu inside Disney+, and your billing may show on the Disney+ account page instead. The rule doesn't change: cancel the plan you're billed for, with whoever bills it. Hulu + Live TV has been on its own track, so if you have live TV, check the Hulu account page and help center for that plan specifically.
Pausing Hulu instead of cancelling#
If you only want a break, Hulu has offered a pause option for eligible subscribers billed directly by Hulu. A pause stops charges for a set time, then your plan restarts automatically.
That's handy if you know you'll be back, but remember the automatic restart. Put the restart date in your calendar so it doesn't surprise you. If you're not sure you'll be back, cancelling is cleaner, because nothing restarts until you choose.
Hulu's help center has the current pause length and who's eligible. Pause usually isn't available if Apple, Google Play or another partner bills you.
What happens after you cancel Hulu#
- You keep access through the end of your billing period. Hulu's terms say so.
- Trials, promo codes and credits can end sooner. The same terms say cancellation may take effect immediately if you're on a free trial, promotional code or other credit. Read the confirmation screen to see the actual end date.
- You may lose credits. Hulu's terms say cancelling forfeits service, referral or redeemed gift card credits, so use them up first if you can.
- You won't be charged again unless you restart.
- Downloads stop working once the subscription ends.
Cancelling doesn't refund the current period. If you were charged by mistake, contact Hulu support, or Apple, Google or the partner if they bill you. Refunds are their call.
A worked example#
Say your Hulu plan costs $10 a month (a round number for the example, not Hulu's current price). Over a year that's $10 × 12 = $120.
If you only subscribe during the two seasons you actually watch, about four months a year, you pay $10 × 4 = $40. That saves $120 − $40 = $80 a year.
Now add a bundle you're not using all of. If a bundle costs, say, $18 a month and you only watch Hulu, that's $18 × 12 = $216 a year, versus $120 for Hulu alone. The $96 difference is what you're paying for services you don't open. A streaming rotation helps with exactly this.
How to restart Hulu#
- Go to hulu.com and sign in with the same email.
- Choose a plan and confirm payment.
- Your profiles and watch history should still be tied to the account.
Before confirming, check the plan and price, since both change over time. If you restart on a trial, note when it becomes paid. Put that date in your calendar.
Troubleshooting: when cancelling Hulu doesn't work#
| What you see | What it usually means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| No cancel option on hulu.com/account | Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Roku or a partner bills you | Cancel with that company |
| Hulu isn't in iPhone Subscriptions | You don't pay through Apple | Use hulu.com/account |
| Charged the day after you cancelled | You cancelled after the cut-off | Check the time you cancelled; contact support |
| Two charges for Hulu | A standalone plan plus a bundle, or two accounts | Cancel the one you don't need |
| Plan restarted on its own | A pause ended | Cancel if you don't want it |
More to check:
- Old accounts under another email.
- Family members paying for a plan you assumed was yours.
- Bundle changes after a promotion ended, which can move billing to your own card.
If a charge keeps appearing and nobody can explain it, contact your bank or card issuer.
Keep track of when Hulu renews#
Most surprise charges happen because the billing date slips by. When you sign up, restart or pause, put the next billing date in your calendar with an alert a couple of days before.
If you have several streaming services, Monthlee keeps them in one list and reminds you on the day or 1, 2, 3 or 7 days before each charge, with no bank login. Its free-trial warnings also flag a trial before it turns into a paid plan.
The bottom line#
To cancel Hulu, sign in at hulu.com/account in a browser and cancel there, before 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on the day before your billing date. If there's no cancel option, Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Roku, a partner or a Disney+ bundle bills you, so cancel with them.
Use up any credits first, keep the confirmation email, and if you're on a bundle, make sure you cancel the plan you're actually paying for.
Frequently asked questions
How do I cancel my Hulu subscription?
Sign in at hulu.com/account in a web browser, find the option to cancel your subscription and follow the prompts to confirm. If Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Roku or another partner bills you, cancel through that company instead.
Can I cancel Hulu in the app?
The most reliable place is your Hulu account page in a web browser, which works on a phone too. If Hulu is billed through Apple or Google Play, cancel in your iPhone Settings or the Play Store instead, because the Hulu account page can't stop app store billing.
If I cancel Hulu, do I keep access until the end of the month?
Usually yes. Hulu's terms say you keep access through the end of your current billing period. The exception is a free trial, promo code or credit, where the terms say cancellation may take effect immediately.
Why is there no cancel button on my Hulu account?
The usual reason is that someone else bills you, such as Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Roku, a phone carrier or a Disney+ bundle. Check your account page for who handles billing, then cancel with that company.
Can I pause Hulu instead of cancelling?
Hulu has offered a pause option for eligible subscribers who are billed by Hulu directly. Look for it on your account page near the cancel option, and check Hulu's help center for the current pause length and rules.
